“The software applications that Van Tonder pioneered include Great Plains and BOSASA’s trustMASTER system, KAS (the Kitchen Administration System) and Noah, a water and farm management system.”
As Group Chief Financial Officer, Andries van Tonder controls, manages and eliminates risk for the BOSASA Group of Companies as a whole.
By combining his financial expertise with integrated modern software, this Honours graduate in macro-commerce and economics has pioneered software applications for financial modelling, knowledge management and operational control.
For 20 years Van Tonder has served 80-plus companies in the BOSASA Group. He devises financially sustainable models and evaluates global research to forecast performance, thus boosting the growth and profitability of BOSASA and its clients.
As a member of BOSASA’s Board of Directors – a unified team that has worked together and embodied excellence for decades – Van Tonder exemplifies the integration and innovation that characterise BOSASA. His financial acumen guides the group to maximise return on investment, foster entrepreneurship and spearhead community development while ensuring compliance and sustainability.
The software applications that Van Tonder pioneered include Great Plains and BOSASA’s trustMASTER system, KAS (the Kitchen Administration System) and Noah, a water and farm management system.
BOSASA Operations prepares and serves nearly 200,000 meals every day and KAS enhances productivity with minute-by-minute information. The application enables effective planning and decision making in industrial kitchens with daily checks and reports on cash flow, food costs, stock levels and irregularities. The result is improved financial control and management.
Noah was purpose built to eliminate risk after Van Tonder had researched and evaluated similar systems globally. The scarcity of water and the effect of farming on the development, economy and environment of South Africa make sustainable aquaculture crucial. Van Tonder’s ability to identify sustainability trends and develop a system to manage aquaculture that yields sustained production of contamination-free product makes BOSASA a global leader.
Van Tonder’s pioneering application of Great Plains software so effectively extracts meaningful scientific and financial data that Microsoft regards it as marketable – well-deserved recognition of his pioneering, practical and responsible endeavours.
